PODCAST on Personal Finance: Is it that important to save my money, now?

Probably one of the LAST things on people’s minds, especially heading into the the Holiday shopping season, is saving money.  However, this is a great time to take a step back and reflect on our money issues and personal finance habits.  Hopefully we have been able to see the ways we can stretch our dollars to make ends meet, balance our budget and checkbook and find out how our company 401(k) plan actually works.

The silver lining in this recession is that our nation has become more fiscally conscious and most are beginning to understand the errors of our “consumeristic” ways…hopefully.

If personal savings from each paycheck, commission, product sale or big payday was not on the top of your list of “to-dos” when you receive your cash, then hopefully this special, quick podcast may encourage you.

Taking callers questions on this touchy topic

What this recession is clearly telling us, is traditional retirement and financial planning methods have gone bad.  For instance, have you been told that the best way to become debt-free is to send additional payments to your mortgage company?

Millions of American homeowners have followed this path, then lost their jobs or faced a change in health, spent all their emergency cash and charged up credit cards…then lost their homes.

Life HAPPENS! 5 Ways Life Insurance Helps You Stay Financially Prepared While Living

It has been said that the only thing certain in life is taxes…and death.  If so, then let’s see how we can minimize the first (taxes) and maximize the later (LIFE!). One great mentor once told me this powerful quote by Henry David Thoreau, “Most men live a life of quiet desperation.”  That’s probably because they lack to vision to see ahead the potential obstacles that keep them from where they want to go!  We have to see more than just ourselves, but rather the legacy we create and leave behind.

Victory for Veterans: Taking the Fight from the Battlefield to Success on the Homefront

The taste of freedom is different for those that have trained, fought and sacrificed for it.  But the transition from fighting abroad to entering civilian life, is a difficult dynamic for many U.S. veterans.  Having been an active duty U.S. Marine deployed to the Middle East and Africa with Special Operations units, I cannot deny I thought about the status of my finances, my future and uncertain paths at least once or twice.  Furthermore, once my tour of duty was over, I found it difficult to be in an atmosphere that lacked mutual accountability, discipline and committed teamwork as the Marine Corps provided me for 10 years.

Inspired by Steve Sepessey of Cleen Macheez visit to the radio show  last week, we decided to dedicate this week to helping United States military personnel and support units with specific insights, encouragement and actionable steps to be a hero in their homeland.

5 Ideas on Getting from Ordinary to Extraordinary

One of those ideas is just doing that little “extra”.  That’s right.  Asking that extra question, seeking extra detail, speaking extra positive in a negative situation…like that.
