Gene Amromin is a senior financial economist in the financial markets group at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Prior to joining financial markets group in 2008, he had been a financial economist since 2005 with the payments studies group at the Chicago Fed. His research interests include household financial decision-making, retirement savings, payment choices and taxation and corporate finance. Amromin’s research has been published in the Review of Finance and the National Tax Journal.
Before joining the Chicago Fed in 2005, Amromin was on the staff of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. Amromin received a B.A. in economics from Northwestern University and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.
